Power BI & performance reporting

Data, Dashboards & Reports

See what is happening, where work is slowing down, and what needs attention.

North Align provides Power BI consulting, dashboard development, and reporting support for government agencies and prime contractors delivering government projects. We turn scattered records and recurring reporting needs into clear measures, interactive reports, and practical management summaries.

Problems we help solve

Reporting that answers the questions behind the numbers

Start with the decisions your team needs to make. Then build the measures and views to support them.

Numbers that do not agree

Different spreadsheets, inconsistent definitions, and missing records make reports difficult to trust. We organize available data, define measures, and identify gaps that affect interpretation.

Possible outputsPrepared dataset, metric definitions, and data-quality findings.

Reports that take too long

Repeated exports and manual calculations consume time each reporting cycle. We develop reusable Power BI reports, consistent calculations, and an update process your team can maintain.

Possible outputsInteractive report, reusable data model, and refresh instructions.

Dashboards that hide the issue

A headline total rarely explains a backlog, service delay, or changing demand. We design focused views that help staff compare periods, examine relevant detail, and identify follow-up questions.

Possible outputsPerformance dashboard, trend analysis, and management summary.

Built around your work

Examples of useful reporting outputs

Depending on your data and goals, an engagement could produce:

Workload and backlog
Track incoming requests, completions, open work, and aging by team or service.
Service delivery
Compare turnaround times, demand patterns, and agreed service targets.
Program performance
Follow milestones and defined indicators, with comparisons across periods or divisions.
Leadership reporting
Combine key measures, trend charts, and plain-language commentary for recurring management reviews.

AI performance & quality monitoring

See whether AI is improving the work

North Align helps turn workflow records and human review results into a scorecard or Power BI dashboard. Give leaders a clear view of staff effort, output quality, and issues that need follow-up.

We agree on the measures, data sources, reporting frequency, and decisions the report should support.

Total staff effort
Compare staff effort with an agreed baseline, including time spent preparing inputs, using AI, reviewing outputs, and making corrections.
Quality of reviewed outputs
Summarize findings from an agreed sample, including error types, severity, and corrections. Display the sample size and review method with the results.
Review status and exceptions
Report recorded approvals, escalations, and unresolved issues so managers can see where follow-up is needed.
Corrective follow-up
Track agreed actions, owners, due dates, and completion status, including updates to source content or staff guidance.

This can be a defined setup assignment or recurring reporting, with the schedule and deliverables agreed upfront.

Monitoring can support an AI Workflow Pilot & Verification engagement or an existing AI workflow. Pair it with Program Integrity & Oversight to establish review procedures and follow-up responsibilities.

Leadership experience

Power BI experience shaped by operational needs

Founder Adam Taha is a former division director in Minnesota state government. He worked with and supported multiple divisions in creating large Power BI dashboards to track a range of operational data points, using advanced Power BI capabilities.

That experience informs an approach that connects dashboard development with performance measurement, day-to-day operations, and the questions managers need answered.

Working together

From reporting question to usable output

Scope, timeline, and deliverables are agreed before work begins.

  1. Define

Agree on the audience, measures, available sources, access requirements, and decisions the report should support.

  2. Build and validate

Develop a focused prototype. Check totals, definitions, filters, and missing-data handling with your team before expanding it.

  3. Hand over

Provide the agreed dashboard or report, supporting documentation, and guidance for updating and interpreting it.

Questions about getting started

Can you improve an existing Power BI report?

Yes. We can review the data, measures, layout, and usability, then agree on targeted improvements.

Can we start with spreadsheets?

Yes. Existing spreadsheets can be a starting point. We assess their structure and quality before deciding what can be combined and reported reliably.
